History

Our Church

Christian Community Church has been serving the Gold Coast community since 1973 when the Church was founded by Pastor Ted & Karin Watson. At the time, the only other Pentecostal Church on the Gold Coast was the Assembly of God Church in Southport. The Church became well known and gained a reputation as a Church that was actively involved in reaching the community, particularly reaching out to the Gold Coast Youth and Children through evangelism. Following the sudden passing away of Pastor Ted in October 1986; the church then went through a number of changes. Pastor Allen & Lyn Vandenberg commenced as Senior Pastor of the Church early 1987 and it was during this time the present building was established in October 1988. Pastor David & Wendy Bryant came on staff as Associate Pastor during this period. Upon the resignation of Pastor Allen Vandenberg in 1989; Pastor John & Coby Pasterkamp came on staff as Senior Pastor in March 1989. In 1991, Pastor John & Coby with their family returned to Holland having accepted an invitation to return to their home church. Pastor David & Wendy continued as Interim Pastor until December 1992. Pastors Eugene & Judy Bognar who were serving as Senior Associate Pastor at Heritage City Community Church Ipswich, accepted Christian Community Church’s invitation to the position of Senior Pastor commencing in February 1993. During this time, there was real growth in the Church and through “The Bethlehem Experience” which was held for six years, had a major impact on the City.  In February 2010, Pastors Eugene & Judy stepped down from the position of Senior Pastor and Pastor Kevin & Anne Thomas then accepted the position. Pastor Kevin & Anne had moved from Catalyst Church (Heritage City Community Church) two years previously to spend that time transitioning to the position of Senior Pastor.

Over the past 36 years, CCC has been instrumental in seeing people’s lives transformed into their God given purpose. As Pastor Eugene once said; "Our vision is to see lives transformed. We believe that nothing you could do right now could make God love you more than he does at this moment. However we also believe that God loves you enough that he doesn't want you to stay the same.”

Pastor Kevin & Anne along with their team of Leaders have a great love for people. They have a passion to see lives transformed by the power of God. Their desire is to meet the needs of the local community by serving people. As the banner in the Church’s foyer says; “Whoever finds God, finds life.” This value is at the very heart of CCCLiVE.TV.
